This week, empty rucksacks, broken flip-flops and a feeble canvas tent lie strewn across the Sanctuary’s floor. It’s World Refugee Day and over the last few days, we’ve been exploring a symbolic journey of walking in the footsteps of a refugee.
Its been a painful walk.
With the harsh realities of the Syrian refugee crisis as our main stimulus, we’ve been challenged once again to pray in a deeper way for those who are now far from home, having lost everything.
But like any walk into the issues of injustice, we return to the truth that God is a refuge for all who cry out for comfort, protection and rescue – and that Jesus, once a refugee himself, leads us in our walk of intercession.
We’ve turned our prayer stations into a new creative resource which you can use to design your own refugee journey experience. Download it from our new and topical resources page
